Yes, you can pay privately. Your insurance provider does not need to know you are attending therapy sessions.

Your therapy and life coaching sessions are confidential. However, as a mandated reporter, if you threaten to harm or endanger yourself or others or if abuse or neglect is reported, therapists must report this to the police and adequate agencies like Child Protective Services or Adult Protective Services.

Each therapy session is 50-55 minutes (the therapeutic hour) but can last longer if scheduled and billed as such. The overall length of therapy can last anywhere between 3 months to 2 years. It depends on the reason for therapy and the support the individual may need. There are no cookie-cutter sessions. Length can always be discussed with your therapist.

Studies have proven that online therapy is equally effective as in-person therapy. Nevertheless, in-person therapy is more suitable for severe therapeutic issues. During the free consultation, your therapist will assist you in deciding the best option.

Therapy is only offered to Maryland, West Virginia, and Ohio residents because these are the states where our clinician is licensed. Your insurance may cover therapy. However, Life coaching is offered to anyone living in the US or other English-speaking territories or countries. Life coaching is typically not a covered benefit of private insurance, but some employers allow FSA and HSA plans to cover coaching costs. Ask your employer for more information about your FSA and HSA benefits.

Yes! Therapy and life coaching are both available for teens. Therapy sessions for teens may be covered by your health insurance plan.

No. Therapy can be provided to you without the requirement of taking medications. However, your therapist may refer you to a Psychiatrist as needed, which will be discussed with you during your session.

Yes, depending on the forms. Please consult your therapist directly to ensure those credentials held by the therapist can meet the medical credentials needed for the paperwork.

All self-pay sessions are billed before an appointment can be scheduled. If an appointment needs to be canceled or rescheduled 24 hours in advance, that can be done and payment will be transferred to a new appt date.

Some clinicians have more experience thus, self-pay sessions are based on skill level. Assessment or initial sessions cost more and consequent sessions are offered at a lower cost.

Yes, therapy can be provided over a phone call or FaceTime but be reminded that phone sessions may not be confidential as phone calls are not encrypted.

Discuss your anticipated end date with your therapist. Your therapist may disagree but your sessions and how they are managed are determined by you. Do not feel bad if the therapy relationship does not work. Your therapist may not be a great fit, and that is no one’s fault, but it can happen.

As sessions are online, children must maintain attention during the video session. That may be as young as 12 years old. However, this can be discussed with your therapist if your child is younger and you believe your child will be able to maintain attention. Shorter sessions are also available as needed.

Pro bono therapy sessions are not available at this time. However, the Pro bono counseling project in Maryland may be able to connect you to a qualified therapist for free or at a very low charge depending on your circumstances and needs. Sessions are billed based on how it was discussed. They can be weekly or monthly, and invoice payments can be sent via PayPal, CashApp, or directly from the therapy websites. Copays are collected via an invoice sent online with itemized dated sessions with associated costs. If you add additional time to your session, the cost of that added time will be reflected on your invoice as well.
